Platinum Arowana
Scleropages formosus
Scleropages formosus
The Super Red Arowana from the Kapuas River system in West Kalimantan, Borneo, represents the absolute pinnacle of red arowana breeding. This is not simply a red fish — it is a living artifact of decades of selective breeding, where the most intensely pigmented specimens from the Kapuas basin have been paired generation after generation to produce fish with coloration so deep and luminous that they appear to radiate light. The term "Super Red" is not marketing; it is a classification earned only by fish whose red pigmentation extends uniformly across all six scale rows, the gill plates, fins, and lips.

Our current specimen is a verified Kapuas River lineage fish from one of the most respected breeding operations in Indonesian Borneo. It arrives with full CITES microchip documentation, genetic lineage records, and a certificate of authenticity. At current size, the fish already displays the hallmark flame-red coloration that will continue to deepen and intensify over the next several years. Mature Super Reds from premium bloodlines can appear almost incandescent under proper lighting conditions.
The aquarium requirements mirror those of other large Scleropages formosus: a minimum 300-gallon tank with a secure lid, robust filtration cycling the volume six times hourly, and stable water chemistry at 79 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit with pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Dark substrates and backgrounds are strongly recommended to bring out the full depth of the red pigmentation. Many collectors use blackwater conditions with tannins from Indian almond leaves or driftwood.
Feeding consists of gut-loaded insects, market shrimp, premium pellets, and occasional earthworms. Colour-enhancing supplements containing astaxanthin can support pigment maintenance but will not create coloration that the genetics do not support.
This is a once-in-a-generation specimen. The Fish Collection ships via dedicated climate-controlled courier with our absolute live arrival guarantee.
