Goldener Arowana

The Golden Arowana — often called the Cross Back Golden or Malaysian Golden — is widely considered the second most coveted color morph of Scleropages formosus, surpassed only by the Platinum variant. What distinguishes a true Cross Back Golden from lesser gold variants is scale coverage: on a premium specimen, the gold coloration extends fully across the back, creating an unbroken mantle of 24-karat brilliance when viewed from above. Our current offering exhibits precisely this trait, with deep, saturated gold scales running from the fifth row down to the belly on both flanks.

In Southeast Asian Feng Shui tradition, the Golden Arowana is synonymous with wealth and prosperity. Collectors in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong have long regarded these fish as living symbols of financial fortune, and specimens with particularly intense coloration regularly command prices well into five figures. The fish we offer has been microchipped and comes with full CITES documentation tracing its lineage to a certified breeding facility in Peninsular Malaysia.

Housing requirements are substantial. A minimum 300-gallon aquarium is non-negotiable, with 500 gallons or larger preferred for a fish that can reach thirty-five inches at maturity. The tank must be securely covered — arowanas are explosive jumpers. Water temperature should be maintained between 79 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit, with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5. Filtration should cycle the entire volume at least six times per hour.

Diet consists of a rotation of gut-loaded insects, market shrimp, and premium floating pellets. We supplement with occasional earthworms and river shrimp for variety. Feeder fish are used sparingly and only from quarantined stocks.
